Broken Material File Links

I have a project from 2015 that I am trying to redo for iOS 64 bit.

When I open the project in the version of Unity that is close to the date that it was last built for the app store it still has to import all the assets. I think that means I am not opening it with the same version it was last opened in because usually it only imports when you open with a different version, right?

Anyway, once the project does open all of the materials have missing shaders. Obviously something didn't import correctly.

I manually opened one of the material files and it has this line:

   m_Shader: {fileID: 4800000, guid: b12329f843319e041920eb6c2d09d4b9, type: 3}
 

I have no idea what shader that means. I am guessing the texture is probably the same.

I was not the original developer, so I am not sure what goes where.

So my question is how do I figure out what files go where without having to manually do it all? Is there a way to figure out what exact version of Unity was used to build it? It is going to be late 4.x or early 5.x.

If I do find the exact version will it still have to import everything and loose the links anyway?

Bottom line is how to I open this project without it missing things?
