How do I install Unity?

I’ve tried to install Unity but I’ve had no such luck.
I’ve basically tried putting Unity into a drive called D:/ which had 1 TB of data (since Unity was too large to fit into my C:/ Windows drive) and while this worked at first, when I tried to use Unity the next day I got an error saying bad image as two of the files hadn’t loaded - and I had to reinstall Unity again, which didn’t seem to resolve the issue. I’ve read online that this D:/ drive is for backup data, which might explain why Unity failed to launch, but I want to know if I am still able to put Unity on the D:/ drive, because if I can, it leaves me with a lot of space.

Sorry if this is all very confusing to read, but I genuinely have no idea what’s happened.

It is quite easy install unity and make a folder in you D drive name Unity and then select it while installing unity3d then run it as administrator else try to install the new windows in your c drive by extending volume.

Well I did put Unity in a folder called My Games, but I believe I set the route there twice is that makes sense. Do you think that’s caused a problem?

Don’t worry about your C drive. You don’t have to run Unity from that. Judging by the size, your D is not some special partition. Something might have corrupted those files. You can try completely removing/uninstalling Unity and reinstalling from scratch, but first run a checkdisk on your D so it hopefully straightens out sector issues if there are any.

As for the drive, it might be good to expect if it’s going to die soon. If you have Linux at hand, I might write a quick bash script for you to check the S.M.A.R.T. data of your drives, or even better you can find something on Google that might even help you understand the data as well. The situation is probably not that bad though.

We won’t be able to help you much here. You probably need system administrators’ help.
