Detect Collision between static and expanding objects

I got a scenario where I have several blocks (Cube) that make up the level. I then drop in one or more cylinders that are simply expanding and I need to know when they hit a block, and most importantly, where it hits the block. The blocks should not hinder the expanding circles, they need to keep expanding through the blocks.

I've tried different variants, using a trigger on the expanding cylinder I can detect that there is a collision, but I have problems getting the collision point, as OnTriggerEnter only gives the collider and not the collision.

If I go without the trigger and instead try rigidbody (non kinematic) I get some weird result:

Using this code in Update:

 transform.localScale = new Vector3(scaler, 0.1f, scaler);

will not cause OnCollisionEnter to react, but if I add:

 transform.localPosition =  transform.localPosition + new Vector3(0.00001f, 0, 0);

it will go into OnCollisionEnter, however, the expanding cylinder will not go through the block, it will continue to expand but the complete cylinder will stay on the same side of the block.

Any ideas as how to do this?

I'm sorry I've read this 3 times and I just cannot figure out exactly what you want to achieve.

that OnCollisionEnter works OR OnTriggerEnter works?

on colilition collider must not be a trigger

on trigger collider $$anonymous$$UST be a trigger but if it is a trigger it won't work as collider any longer but as trigger.

and what do you mean expanding objects are they istantiating? or growing larger each second if so, ... why were you asking that in future thread if you've got that already, ...

sorry I'm totally confused what you want to achive.

Yeah, tricky to explain. However, I went with a totally different solution in the end. And I don't even work on this project anymore these days.

Thanks for reading and trying though. If is possible we should just close this question, I don't think any answer will be very helpful for anyone else either.
