Can humanoid animations play on Generic rig Character?

Question

I have a humanoid character and its animation. I have rigged a model from mixamo and its rig is generic. How can i use humanoid animations on my mixamo rigged character?

Just click on that model. Then in inspector click on Rig tab. From there you can change animation type to generic to Humanoid. By default model animation type is generic.!I have attached image for refrence.

Thanks. But I have changed the rig of mixamo rigged character to humanoid. Its not working. I have not explore animations+characters much. Must be a noob question. But really need help. Have already wasted one day in animations and character. And result is null. :(

Animation rig is generic. Downloaded from maximo. i have changed the rig from unity editor to humanoid but it is not working.
