Question by TheRedGuy90 · Nov 18, 2017 at 08:02 PM · 3dclipping plane

Omitting Objects From Being Affected By Clipping Plane (3D)

If I want to either

A) Isolate certain objects to not disappear in the Clipping Plane, or

B) Isolate certain objects to disappear in the Clipping Plane

is that possible? Some objects in my game don't necessarily need to be seen until you are closer to them, but some need to be seen from further away.

I would use clipping panes in addition to a dual camera. The main player camera has the clipping pane, w$$anonymous$$le the other camera (herein I'll refer to it as the clipped camera) has a clipping pane set to very far away.

You can set the clipped camera's layermask to only render the objects you want to see from far away and adjust your depth setting on each camera accordingly.

Perfect. I was wondering about 2 Cameras. Thank you!

Well, I am noticing now that after making 2 Cameras (both assigned to Display 1), one with a Near Layer and one with a Far Layer and assigning Objects to those Layers.... I am only reading the Near Objects in my Game View...... lemme keep looking at it

Hmm...... it seems to alternate between one camera and another, and it won't display both camera's Clipping Planes at once...

On your clipped camera, try adjusting your Clear Flags property to "Don't Clear"

That did it. Thank you!
