Question by JohnJones · Jul 21, 2011 at 07:42 PM · corrupt

Data file is corrupt (not a Unity Web Player file)

I keep getting this error

Data file is corrupt (not a Unity Web Player file)

no matter what I do. I've tried everything I can think of, I've tried everything other people have suggested (including http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/11311/how-i-do-re-install-the-webplayer-when-it-fails-to.html# ).

Thanks for helping, John Jones jjones@holden.k12.mo.us

Post code. Are you getting this from the default files Unity builds when you build web player?

Presumably you are viewing some webpage with Unity content on it. It sounds as though the data file that the plugin has loaded as become corrupted in transmission. You may care to clear your browser cache and then reboot your machine. Possibly your browser has cached the broken copy, and unless you clear the cache you might get this broken version each time. Try that, anyway, and see how you get on. Add a comment to this answer if you still have problems, and perhaps share the URL that is giving you this problem and others can try it and see what happens.

I had the same problem.

Unity worked offline, but as soon as I uploaded it to a server It died.

I fixed it by configuring the mime type correctly on the server.

File Extension

.unity3d

Type

application/vnd.unity

I have a solution: I tried to download Microsoft Word (for free) and I malware. So I download https://www.malwarebytes.org/free/ This website found 62 malware in my computer. I deleted the 62 malware and my unity player was fixed. I dont know if this will work for you buts its worth as shot!
