Question by Razorgaunt · Mar 19, 2018 at 07:00 PM · build-error

Build Error: Moving Temp/StagingArea/Data to Temp/StagingArea\assets\bin\Data: Access is denied.

Duplicate Problem: Run "Build" or "Build And Run" and during "Postprocessing Player" I get get this message "Moving Temp/StagingArea/Data to Temp/StagingArea\assets\bin\Data: Access is denied."

I've been building for a long time, and everything worked. The last thing I remember doing between builds was importing and setting up sprites from a PNG.

I have done the following 1. Tried running in Admin 2. Delete Temp and rerun 3. Reboot Unity/computer 4. Removed Scenes from build 5. Removed last imported PNG 6. Changed platform from Android to PC 7. Changed projects to a known working build 8. Uninstall/Reinstall Unity

All of these error out in that message. Please Help!

The error I posted above is for Android. The error for Windows is "$$anonymous$$oving Temp/StagingArea/Data to Temp/StagingArea/[BuildName]_Data: Access is denied.

The build still completes in WIndows, despite the error, not in Android.

Try to autorize Unity from your Antivirus, personnaly I just exited MalwareBytes and it worked perfectly.

For me avast flagged the build as a threat and put it in the virus chest. I just restored it and it works now

If you run as admin then maybe it will work

As I mentioned in my list of things I've tried, running in Admin is one of them, which I tried again, just now to be sure. :)

Just to add to this, if I take the "Force Quit" option, I get this message: "Force Quit pressed for Moving file failed: Moving Temp/StagingArea/Data to Temp/StagingArea\assets\bin\Data: Access is denied.

UnityEngine.GUIUtility:ProcessEvent(Int32, IntPtr)"

2 years later in the mean time, Where you able to fix this issue? If so, I'd like to know how...

I just ran into this issue today and the cause for me was that the drive I was building the project on was almost full (only a few dozen $$anonymous$$Bs were left). Freeing up space is what fixed it for me.
