Calculating time for object to stop after removing an applied force

Given an object being propelled by an applied force, how can I calculate the time it will take for the object to stop moving when force is no longer applied, knowing what the drag has been set to.

Any help would be much appreciated; having been looking for hours...

Too many variables. Do you have Physics Materials? Is Friction being caused by anything else or is it free floating? Why do you want this calculation? May be more helpful if you asked how to get a certain result then people will know what you're looking for.

Good day.

If you pretend to know the time that the object will be moving, maybe you should reduce the speed by code and not by physics, so you can calculate the time.

Thanks for the response; I would really like to be able to know using the physics engine how long it would take the object to reach zero velocity when removing any applied force.

Im sorry then but i think is almost impossible. Physics are calculated almost every frame and is very complex. $$anonymous$$aybe is possible, if you have low elements interacting with the object, and makimg various test, to find by your own a relation between time and the moment it stops, but will be an aproximation. I dont think is possible to 'easy' find a way to calculate it.

Maybe you can calculate time like this. @rd_mcn

 // this code is for countdown the time
 //set time to 10 seconds
 float time = 10f;

 time -= Time.deltaTime;
 if (time < 0){
    //some code...
 }

 // this code is for counting the time
 float time = 0f;

 time += Time.deltaTime;

 //set time to 11 seconds
 if (time < 11){
    //some code...
 }
