Apply forces on a spacecraft at thruster locations

I've designed a spacecraft, which has maneuvering thrusters at their appropriate locations and rotations to correctly apply thrust to control yaw/pitch/roll and planar movement of the craft. The thrusters are separate objects to the main body of the spacecraft. [see below] alt text

In the past, i've applied a forces and torque to the main rigidbody, but that's not exactly very realistic, and give the different ships iv'e designed very similar handling. I am trying to achieve each thruster applying its own force to the ship, however, putting rigid-bodies on everything doesn't work.

Is there any way i can apply a force on these thrusters or apply a force at the position and rotation of these thrusters on a parent rigidbody, since these are all children of a grouped object with 20+ separate meshes?

(i hope that makes sense)

I would make a thrust object, then attach the thrust behaviour on to the group that makes up the thuster, you can group all the parts that make up the thruster into one prefab, and have another one inside it called thruster power position or something and that's where you would direct your power output to. In the real world when designing such stuff you'd want to make a Vehicle class, spaceship class that inherits from Vehicle and then thruster class that inherits from engine class, and the engine class would be composited into vehicles.

Ah, ok, i think i get what you are saying. Apply forces at the thruster locations, but on the parent object. I guess i can get the offset and rotation of each thruster and use that in AddForceAtPosition?
