Trigger multiple functions from instantiated objects when pressing a UI Button.

I am currently working on an assignment but I can't figure out how to fix this problem. It is a game in which there are certain kinds of animals, herbivores, carnivores and omnivores. The player can feed these animals by pressing a UI button, there is a button for feeding leaves to the herbivores and omnivores and one for feeding meat to the carnivores and omnivores. The animals are instantiated from a spawner script, all the animals have their own script and their own versions of the eating functions because they all have different reactions to eating.

For example the Hippo has this method in the script:

 public void EatLeaves()
         {
             Balloon.SetActive(true);
             text.text = "munch munch lovely";
         }

While the Giraffe has this:

 public void EatLeaves()
         {
             Balloon.SetActive(true);
             text.text = "munch munch good stuff";
         }

The problem is that I can't access these functions with the OnClick method that comes with the UI Buttons in the Inspector because that objects that get instantiated are different from the ones in the prefabs. I have tried many different methods of fixing this but I can't figure out what to do.
