Question by as3mbus · Sep 28, 2018 at 06:29 AM · assetasset storegit

How to manage other people asset in git ?

Hello is there any method or tips in using unity with git by using other people asset ?

in the case w$$anonymous$$ch i use some asset from asset store and thought it would be messy yet weird to include other ppl stuff in my git repositories.

i did tried some method like sub repo, but i feel like it's still too messy and hard to manage.

Thank You Beforehand

Just include every stuff inside your project to git LFS.

No body care if it include 3rd party asset. You pay for them so you can use them and store where ever you want.

but what if i uploaded it to Public repository like for instance github or gitlab wouldnt it become free asset if i bought something from asset store and place it there ? or am i allowed to do such stuff since i own the asset i bought entirely that even i could call it mine.

i know people doesn't usually care for this stuff, but it feels wrong to me.

For most of Asset from assetStore pretty sure 90% of them are for 1 person/seat not 1 time payment. So yes, publish for free on github is violating their right.

Just add your 3rd party asset folder to .gitignore and just tell your public git doc that "need this and that" then forget about it.

i'll do just that for now. But I'm still open to idea since it would make the project much more cleaner if i decide to modify included third party asset
