App crashes(SIGABRT) on Android 4.4 (kitkat)

Overview

  • Upgrade apps that were previously created with Unity 5.6.5p1 to the environment of Unity 2018.4.1f1.(For Android 64bit support).

  • When I confirmed the operation with Android 4.4 (kitkat), SIGABRT occurred at the timing of transitioning the scene, and the application crashed.


Working environment

  • Unity Version
    • Unity2018.4.1

  • Unity Settnings
    • Platform:Android

    • Scripting Backend:IL2CPP

    • Target Architectures:ARMv7、ARM64、x86

  • Smartphone used
    • Model number :SHV31

    • Android Version:Android 4.4.4


Occurrence timing

Occurs when transitioning between specific scenes

(100% occurs when transitioning between scenes)


Changes due to changes in Unity build settings

  • Remove ARM64 from Target Architectures (= non-64bit)
    • → Error occurrence (no improvement)

  • Change Build System from Gradle to Internal
    • → Error occurrence (no improvement)

  • Change Scripting Backend from IL2CPP to Mono
    • → Error occurrence (no improvement)

    • After executing Export Project, build on Android Studio
      • → Improvement (no error)

    • Build execution with Development Build
      • → Improvement (no error occurred, why?)

    • I don't know why the problem doesn't occur, especially when working with apps created with Development Build.


Others (something already known)

  • No problem with Android 5 (or newer OS) devices

  • Updated to the following version and confirmed the operation. However, the phenomenon was not improved.
    • → Unity 2018.4.7

    • → Unity 2019.2.1 

  • I have created an iOS app using the same source code, but there is no problem with iOS

Try using X86 in the player build settings.

Try using X86 in the player build settings.

I'm running a build with x86 set to "Target Architectures", are there any other items that need to be set?
