Instantiated prefab position

In my game, I have a script instantiate a set of platforms and a finish line at y position increments of 4. I need the position of the instantiated finish line's position in a different script. How would I access the finish line's y position?

If you are asking how to access a variable from a diferent script, go look for that opic. There are thousands of posts, manuals and youtube ideios about this.

This is a very imprecise question.

But basically there are a lot of ways to share information in Unity.

Let's call your "different script" ScriptB, and your finish line script ScriptA.


You could have a public field in your ScriptB that is of type GameObject, Transform or ScriptA, and simply drop your finish line object on that field.

This will initialize your public var on the ScriptB with the value that you need. Now you just need to get its position from that value, like so

 public GameObject finishLineGO;
 public Transform finishLineTransform;
 public ScriptA finishLine;

 void Update {
     finishLineGO.transform.position.y;
     finishLineTransform.position.y;
     finishLine.transform.position.y;
 }


You could also use GameObject.Find("finish line"), or GameObject.FindWithTag("finish line")

You would have to set the name or tag respectively.
