How to orient Character/ Configuerable Joint x/y limits 180 degrees from X "twist" axes

I've been trying desperately to find a way to orient the joint x/y limits 180 degrees (not just 90) from x "twist" axes. I know in most cases you would need a joint that is 90 degrees from the axis for like a knee or an elbow, but in some cases you would need one that is 180 degrees for something like a hip joint, spine, tailbone, etc... I'm struggling to find a solution for something that should be rather common... I don't understand why there is no option to extend the arc of the x/y limits 360 degrees like with the x "twist" axes where you can define a high/ low value. Something like that should be available for all 3 axis... Am I missing something? For compatibility reasons I'm forced to use 2018.1.9f2. There should be a simple straightforward solution for this. Shouldn't there be?
