Good AI for vehicles

Question

Hey guys, I was wondering, does anyone know of any good car driving scripts/car AI scripts.

I have found a couple of tutorials on the internet, and they make the car drive, but it doesn't feel like a car (the handling and stuff is not good). I was aiming on trying to find scripts that would allow me to make a car and other AI cars like the ones in games like Grand Theft Auto and stuff like that. And just incase anyone thinks of it, I tried the unity car tutorial, but I couldn't seem to get it to work with my own car models..... :(

Your best bet is to take a look at the UnitySteer library. It is a set of C# scripts you can apply to your objects to give them intelligent path-finding. You can create a set of waypoints on your track, and have the cars follow them.

For different levels of difficulty, create different waypoint sets. For example for easy opponents, create a waypoint set where the AI cars follow a wide/slow line around the track, for more difficult AI make them follow an optimised racing line set of waypoints around the track.
