Cull every face seen through a backface?

I'm trying to write a shader that allows objects to be inset into other objects, i.e. a sink in a worktop. See the image for the example. I want to always draw the face, unless it is only visible through a backface of the object. This reasoning is because if it is only visible through the backface, you can assume it'd be out of view. example of different outcomes, last panel is an edited image to show solution
