2D Orthographic Camera Help

Hello,

After a lot of generic tutorials and lots of web searching I'm just getting my feet wet with unity and sprite manager trying my hand at my first Unity/iPad 2D game.

Not knowing where to start as far as basic settings for a 2d game for the iPad I created a image 1024x768 to use as the static background image for the game and set it up as a sprite via sprite manager 2. I've been trying to set up an orthographic camera to view the whole sprite background.. but have been having no luck. No matter what settings I set on the camera there are only small changes to the game view when I hit play, the view stays way too zoomed in on the middle of the sprite. I've spent hours trying to get the game view to show the whole background sprite.. ack.

I'm sure I've done something probably basically wrong but it seemed a logical way to start on the game...

Thanks for any help...

Not entirely sure what your problem is... It seems like you need to fiddle with the cameras Z position and field of view setting.

It baffles me why so many people try to make 2d games in an engine that, as its main selling point, advertises its optimization for 3d game creation. But that's probably off topic.

I've been messing around with the settings a lot.. I don't know why I can't get the view right. As far as why I'm using a 3D engine for 2D.. 2D seems like a faster way than 3D to get a game off the ground, it also still gives me a lot of the fundamentals of working with unity and I'd rather learn an engine that can do both 2D and 3D well than have learn 2 different engines for mobile development.
