Smoothness of geometry look

Hi! I exported my flower model from Blender to Unity using FBX.

And the petals look not smooth with a lot of ugly stripes on it.

When I export the petals itself without flower they look alright.

And other elements like leaves look good and smooth.

Maybe it's something with rendering settings?

Please help.

Thanks everyone! What I realized:


  1. This problem is not related to materials because it looks the same without them

  2. These stripes appear not just on petals but on each detail depends on the view. You can see the stripes moving when you rotate an object

  3. If I don't join petals with the other mesh (fbx includes defferent details in Unity) it looks much better. So somehow if the mesh is joined it renders differently. Perhaps middle seeds mesh affect petals.

Or the joined object with a lot of overlapping is too complicated to be rendered properly


So my guess it's is something related to lighting and rendering settings. I used default scene, didn't adjust lighting there. Anybody know how to increase render quality? I think it could help

Ok, I made sure it's definitely something with lighting in default scene. When I made the flower much bigger than original default room was the stripes disappeared. Thanks to everyone again!

The leaves look great but the petals look like the UV mapping isn't right.. did you UV map the petals in Blender? Maybe you can add a pic of your UV mapping. Best of luck. :)

I tried to export just petals without other elements and they looked good, so couldn't be wrong UV mapping... And also If I delete all materials it looks the same, so it's something else.. Could it be because of overlapping with seeds geometry in the middle?

I wish I could be more help but following in hopes to learn what the issue is. It looks like the texture is rotated in Unity, or I wonder if you attach the petals to the object in Blender maybe it messed up the uv map? the other model penetrating shouldn't affect it like that. Elenzil had a good suggestion.

try importing the FBX back into blender or another mesh tool like MeshLab. then you might be able to see if the issue is in the export from blender or the import to unity.
