Question by Conny14156 · Oct 09, 2011 at 10:29 PM · variable

How do i access other variable from other gameobject/script?

First Script

public class AnimationRotation : MonoBehaviour {

 private Vector3 TargetPosition;
 // Use this for initialization
 void Start ()
 {
     Controller_Movements Controller = GetComponent<Controller_Movements>();
     TargetPosition = Controller.TargetPosition;
 }

 // Update is called once per frame
 void Update ()
 {
     Debug.Log(TargetPosition);
 }

} this is the script i use to acess the other script the Second scirpt is

private Ray Direction; private RaycastHit hit; public Vector3 TargetPosition;

     // Update is called once per frame
 void Update ()
 {
     Direction = Camera.mainCamera.ScreenPointToRay(Input.mousePosition);
     if(Physics.Raycast(Direction,out hit,100))
     {
         TargetPosition = new Vector3(hit.point.x,0,hit.point.z);
         Debug.DrawLine(Direction.origin,hit.point);
     }
      }

iam not sure why the getcomponet doesnt work, i tried using the same example from the http://unity3d.com/support/documentation/ScriptReference/index.Accessing_Other_Game_Objects.html

what i want to do is somehow getting the TargetPosition from the first script to have the same position as TargetPosition from the second script.

$$anonymous$$ake sure you're spelling everything correctly, and that both components are on the same Object! Otherwise you need a gameObject or transform reference to be able to use GetComponent on a different object.
