Why does my raycast not detect the player tag

I am trying to make a basic enemy pathfind and vision but so far it is not working.

using UnityEngine;

public class Test01 : MonoBehaviour { // Float a rigidbody object a set distance above a surface.

 public float floatHeight;     // Desired floating height.
 public float liftForce;       // Force to apply when lifting the rigidbody.
 public float damping;         // Force reduction proportional to speed (reduces bouncing).

 private Transform target;
 public float speed;
 int layerMask = 1 << 9;

 {
     rb2D = GetComponent<Rigidbody2D>();
     target = GameObject.FindGameObjectWithTag("Player").GetComponent<Transform>();
