Double-clicking prefab gives a windows pop-up telling me i have no app that can open this?

The popup looks like the one above, but instead of 'how do you want to open' it says something like: 'you don't have an app that opens .prefab files. choose one below'. I chose unity from the dropdown and now every time i double click a prefab it opens unity hub.

PLEASE help I can't work on my entry for the unity microgame competition because none of my prefabs are editable. Opening them from the project files tab opens the .prefab files in notepad!!!

edit: This problem has been a real pain in the ass, but i've finally fixed it. Had to uninstall unity and unity hub, clean the registry of every file that contained the word 'prefab', and reinstall.
