Destroy(gameobject) doesn't work

Hi, I'm trying to create a RPG game, and want to have interaction between the item and the player.

I made a simple script that use Destroy(gameObject) to simulate the behavior of picking up things. But when I clicked the item, it didn't disappear. There is no error but a warning ' The referenced script (Unkown) on this Behavior is missing!'.

Here is the script.

 using UnityEngine;
 
 public class ItemPickup : Interactable
 {
    public override void Interact()
     {
         base.Interact();
 
         PickUp();
     }
 
     void PickUp()
     {
         Debug.Log("Picking up item.");
 
         DestroyImmediate(gameObject);
     }
 }

that warning means that the scene has lost the reference to a script (that could be the ItemPickup)

Having errors in script could possibly be the reason or edit the script class name or something like that
