Spawn/move particle effect to be behind and always face forward on constantly rotating sphere

Learning Unity and doing the 4th programming project where you have a player sphere on an island to play “Sumo Ball” with enemy spheres. I have added a small addForce boost when the player hits the space key. Now, trying to add a particle effect below and behind the sphere to always face forward. I want it to stay in the same local position relative to the sphere (behind, below, and facing forward) even as the sphere position and rotation are constantly changing. I have been able to attach the particle effect to sphere, but it rotates with the sphere. I am doing this in Update() by setting the position and rotation of the particle effect to the sphere position and rotation (very simple transform.position and transform.rotation code). Like I said, that puts it on the sphere, but rotates with it, never changing position or facing relative to the sphere.

If I get the sphere position/rotation during Update() then set the particle effect position/rotation during LateUpdate(), will that make a difference (away from computer and have not tried yet)? Or am I missing something else entirely?

The rotational facing would change as the camera changes, only around the y axis.

I have looked at Lerp, Slerp, LookAt, Rotate, and animation (as the particle effect could be a child of the parent player sphere) to get the particle effect to move as desired, as the sphere constantly moves, with no answers yet.

Any help is appreciated so I can learn and understand coding this type of feature.
