RotateAround to point at target

Embarrassing amount of time spent on this. I have an orange rectangle that I want to rotatearound some pivot, until it is pointing at some object X. I'd assume I'd only have to use RotateAround by the angle between v0 and v1:

Here is the code:

 //define v0 and normalize y
 Vector3 v0 = orangeSquare.transform.position - pivotPoint.transform.position;
 v0 = new Vector3(v0.x, 0, v0.z);

 // define v1 and normalize y
 Vector3 v1 = target.point - pivotPoint.transform.position;
 v1 = new Vector3(v1.x, 0, v1.z);

 // get horizontal angle
 float angle = Vector3.Angle(v1, v0);

 orangeSquare.transform.RotateAround(pivotPoint.transform.position, Vector3.up, angle);

I just figured out the problem has to do with knowing whether v1 is to the left or right to v2. Any ideas?

 public Transform target;
 public GameObject pivotPoint;
 public GameObject orangeSquare;
 public bool keepRotation = true;

 void LateUpdate()
 {
     Vector3 pivotToTarget = target.position - pivotPoint.transform.position;
     Vector3 pivotToOrangeSquare = orangeSquare.transform.position - pivotPoint.transform.position;

     pivotToTarget.y = pivotToOrangeSquare.y = 0;

     orangeSquare.transform.position = pivotPoint.transform.position + pivotToTarget.normalized * pivotToOrangeSquare.magnitude;
     if(!keepRotation)
     {
         orangeSquare.transform.rotation = orangeSquare.transform.rotation * Quaternion.FromToRotation(pivotToOrangeSquare, pivotToTarget);
     }
 }
