Camera Offset...?

Hello, I am new to Java script and have a quick question that I hope someone in the Unity community can help with. I would like to offset my camera in the z axis a specific amount. Not sure how to make this happen. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

This is what I have...

 #pragma strict

 var target : Transform;
 var smoothTime = 0.3;
 private var thisTransform : Transform;
 private var velocity : Vector3;

 function Start()
 {
     thisTransform = transform;
 }

 function Update()
 {
     thisTransform.position.x = Mathf.SmoothDamp( thisTransform.position.x,
         target.position.x, velocity.x, smoothTime);
     thisTransform.position.z = Mathf.SmoothDamp( thisTransform.position.z,
         target.position.z, velocity.z, smoothTime);
 }

 var offsetAmount : float = 10.00;

 thisTransform.position.z = Mathf.SmoothDamp(thistransform.position.z,target.position.z+offsetAmount,velocity.z,smoothTime);
