Sidescroller Character Movement Script

Hi! I'm trying to make a new game, and thought going with a 2D sidescroller platformy-adventure game would be easiest for a newbie like me. I can get most stuff done and figured out, but I can't get the character to move smoothly left and right with the camera following from the side. Any help please?
