Letters combo

Hello i want to put in my game a ingame letters combo.Like god of war when the x button is shown you must press it fast or you will die.And i want the animation keep playing from behind(the character will not be movable or something.But he will do something like stand animation).If its easy to do that with gui too it will be awesome.Sorry for my bad english. ^O^
