model gets longer when i rotate it

i have a model of a sword and if i put it flat it will stay normal length but if i rotate it up when i start the game it goes really long and stays like that after i stop the game, does anyone know how to fix this?

Can it also get stretched in other, really odd, directions besides just longer? I've notice that sometimes if a parent and/or child are scaled, maybe only if you scale the mesh, Unity can stretch the wrong axis during rotates.

@dannyskim, i havent put any code in the game yet, just the fps controller that comes with unity

@Owen Reynolds, i scaled the parent, i will try scaling the model now

it doesnt work no matter what i do

Make an empty game object then place it at the point of the sword you want it to rotate from (handle, blade, center, tip, etc.) Make the empty parent of the sword then make it rotate, instead of making the sword rotate. If that doesn't work try reimporting the mesh, and Good Luck.

i made the sword on a school computer which has an older version of sketchup so i remade it and it works now
