New Input System with Vector2 in only four directions

I want to use the new input system to implement a simple control with four directions (up, down, left, right). For this I can set Action Type: Value and Control Type: Vector2. But this leads to the fact that if I press two directions at the same time, the output is a diagonal direction. For example, if I press up and right, it returns the vector (0.71, 0.71). Is there a setting so that the returned vector only goes in a cardinal direction, and that is the direction that was pressed last?

Example:

I press the up arrow key, the vector returns (0, 1). If I press the right arrow key at the same time, the vector returns (1, 0). When I release one of the keys, the vector of the key that is still pressed should not be returned.

I think you’ll have to override the input system bindings if you can’t configure it in the settings. Checkout: https://forum.unity.com/threads/how-to-edit-an-input-action-processor.1258359/

Shouldn't it return (1,1) if both are pressed? In order to null out any pressed, it seems you need to assign a method on cancled, to stop input.

When holding a pair of directions simultaneously, it's being pre-filtered into a Vector with a magnitude of 1. Those values are both [Sqrt(2)/2], or [~0.7071].
