Why does our small Unity executable seem to play different on other pcs?

Hi Unity3d gurus

Why does our small Unity executable seem to play different on other pcs? (Not always it seems)

We have a client presentation today and the level plays good on the workstation. However on the laptop I use for presentations the character immediately flies up with the WASD keys. I cant use this for the presentation so I have to try the clients laptop as a workaround.

Why is this and can this be fixed to help future presentations?

Rgds

The first thing that sprang to mind is that it's a problem with how you're moving the character with respect to the FPS

If the other laptop and your desktop are hitting much higher FPS valus than your laptop, it could be that you're adding too little gravity per time, or too much upwards force

Without seeing the script(s) this is the best I can answer however

Interesting answer thanks .. I'm using the basic default walk-through motion unchanged and haven't touched gravity or anything else. On the fast (Vista64-bit) workstation level plays as expectected/as designed. On the slower (Windows7 64-bit) laptop character flies up all the time with WASD keys and spacebar.

Another test game I made works slower on the laptop .. an indication that the laptop is the issue but it is a new laptop and not bad i5 processor.

I'm sure this can be solved but not before my meeting in 90 $$anonymous$$utes. Thanks again :)

Yeah, I reckon it's fixable for sure. $$anonymous$$y personal experience is that it's possible to make characters which react the same on any computer (even if they are running at 5fps vs 200 fps), so there is hope :)
