How to set up objects for specific collision requirements

My game screen consists of a roughly circular area that game units can move within. This has a collision poly, and my objects change direction in their OnCollisionEnter event. If I have many objects, I want them to collide with the edges of this area and change direction, but I don't want them to block each other's movement - they should just go through each other.

In addition, I have enemy units that I want to be able to come into this area from outside - so they should ignore the collision poly when they first enter, and when they're on the "inside" of it, then they should behave like the other objects - once they're in, they can't go out again, and they should also be able to move through each other and my friendly units.

This is what I don't know how to do:

  • what combination and options of rigid bodies and colliders do I need to set on my "wall" and on my friendly and enemy objects to let them move through each other but not through the wall (except for the enemies, who can move through the wall once then not again)?

  • I only want my objects to move up, down, left and right, and ONLY as a response to code I add to the OnCollision function. At the moment, when they hit a wall, they start to wander off at a different angle, and when I'm not manually moving them with the arrow keys, they continue to move a little themselves. I think the collision is applying some force that's being added to the arrow key movement.
