Question by shadowg · Feb 28, 2012 at 01:19 AM · c#transforms

transform.LookAt(target) axis problem

I've created a simple head and dropped my script over the head game object which is:

using UnityEngine; using System.Collections;

   public class EnemyControl : MonoBehaviour {

    public Transform LookAtTarget;

    // Update is called once per frame
    void Update ()
    {
        transform.LookAt(LookAtTarget);
    }
 }

When I hit play, the head doesn't stay on the position I've dropped it on my map, it goes to a certain position and when I move the player around ii keeps circleing the player no matter where I go. I just wanted to make it rotate and keep looking to the player where I left it.

Is is childed to the player? That would make it follow you. Does rotating in the Inspector work O$$anonymous$$? (if the object's (0,0,0) is far from it, it rotatinh will move it, by spinning around that far away point.)

its not child to the player. I've a empty gameObject, in side this gameObject, I have the following game objects: base and UpperBoddy which is parent of Head and Cannon gameObject. I've Throw the script over the UpperBody gameObject. I've created a cube and Threw the script over it and it works perfectly, so I know its not the script... I might be the game object structure... :(

Does it have any other scripts that move it? They could be interfering with it.

I agree: this code alone could not move the head, just make it turn to the target.

not it doesnt, as I've said on the comment ^, I've created a cube and threw the script over it and it workds perfectly, so I think it is my gameObject structure :(
