FBX Model Not Showing When Game Running

I am using Blender 2.61. If I open a new Blender scene and export the default cube as an .fbx file and then import that cube into my Unity scene (and scale it up 100x), I can see that cube just fine in the scene. However, when I run the game engine, I cannot see my test cube. I do have other models that ARE showing up that I also created in Blender and I am quite experienced at making game levels that work. It doesn't make any sense to me why some of the fbx models show up and some do not.

Back to the test cube, I have tried the following. - frozen all scaling and transforms of the model in Blender - made sure that default was checked in Unity layers - checked the "Everything" option in the Unity layers - deleted the Mesh Renderer component and added it again - changed the material to another material from an object that is showing up - tried setting the object to each different tag option possible - tried setting the object to static

I am stumped. If anyone can help me figure out what is going on here I would be extremely grateful.

Thanks.

Okay, I don't understand it, but I just got the cube to show up by unchecking the animation component. I suspect that is has something to do with "Default Take" (whatever that is) because every object has "Default Take" information inside the .fbx and if I click on the select animation clip option next to animation in the animation component, there are a ton of "Default Take" clip listings. So while I was able to work out (or around) my problem, if anyone could clear up why this is happening I would be very grateful.

I hope that by posting my question and solution, I help someone else with the same problem in the future.

Also, I just discovered all the fbx export options in Blender so I am going to play with those and from here on out, make sure not to export animation data to the fbx when there is no animation data. I anticipate that will resolve any future issues.

Hi there, Default Take is the exported animation when exporting an FBX from Blender. It automatically renders one keyframe which, if you export with 'Animations' checked, will always set the model's position to 0,0,0 (I believe its 0,0,0). So, in layman's terms, there is one loose keyframe being interpreted when you export with an animation and that is Default Take. To solve, either don't export with an animation by unchecking 'Animations' (if you don't have one of course), or just delete Default Take or disable animation component in Unity like you did.

Hope that helps! $$anonymous$$lep
