Question by josephj1989 · Mar 07, 2012 at 02:41 PM · c#inspector

Populating/Editing Classes Instance Variables using Inspector

My basic requirement is to Create an Instance of a class and Invoke the inspector to display the class instance variables to the user ,accept user input in inspector and populate the class with the user input values.

So I may do

  Level lev=new Level().
   lev.AirCraft=20;
   lev.Bullets=200;
   lev.Duration=180;

   ShowInspector(lev);

Now the lev fields will contain the values input by the user.

I am considering this as a means for maintaining several game parameter files for example levels

How will I go about invoking the Inspector for a class.

Or am I taking the wrong approach?

Thanks

By users, do you mean people who are working in Unity?

Primarily I intend this as an infrastructure tool for maintaining for example Level definition files. It can be opened to all eventually.

I would take a look into the Editor functionality, which you can use to create a nice inspector display for any GameObject with that $$anonymous$$onoBehaviour on it.
