Can't get Android build to work

Hi, I took up the offer of Unity with the free Android and iOS licences. My main interest is the Android platform.

I am running winXP sp3, have the Andriod SDK installed and working, installed java 6.x

  1. just wouldn't run. No splash screen and silent exit. 3.4 did the same. 3.3.0f4 (63153) runs and makes windows builds. When I switched to Android and build, it stalled at 'searching for Android SDK'. Some searching turned up a fix - kill java.exe in task manager.

Now the build finished but left an error 'xxxx.apk cannot be found or is not a valid folder'

So, I made a null file xxxx.apk in the correct folder for the build and it completes but the xxxx.apk file is the null file unchanged. If I don't have the null file I get the 'cannot be found or is not a valid folder' error as above.

Is it perhaps my free key for 3.5 (which I cant get to run - updated gfx drivers, Android SDK, Java) won't work with 3.3?

When you say 3.5 wouldn't run do you mean Unity wouldn't run or it won't run on the Android device? Have you set the android SD$$anonymous$$ location in Unity->edit->preferences? Does the build run n the Unity editor?

The latest version of Java, Android SD$$anonymous$$ and Unity might be the solution. Besides, go to your Unity > Edit > Preferences settings to manually locate the Android SD$$anonymous$$ location. Hope this helps!

@HazeTl - Unity 3.5 doesn't run. Quits silently, no splash screen, nothing. Unity 3.4 does the same thing. I'm running really old hardware - Athlon 2400XP, Radeon 2600HD gfx. 3.3 runs fine apart from Android builds

@sjeke31 - I have updated Java and the Android SD$$anonymous$$. Can't get the latest Unity to run (3.5). Done the manual locate of the Android SD$$anonymous$$ through Edit>Prefs. Didn't work.

Beginning to think it's my ancient hardware that's the problem.

Hmm, the problem won't have anything to do with Android SD$$anonymous$$ if you can't even get Unity to run. Judging by these $$anonymous$$ specs: http://unity3d.com/unity/system-requirements

Your computer should be fine too.

I'd say uninstall Unity and try a fresh install and see if you can open up an empty project.
