to many physics errors

I'm fairly new to unity and I'm trying to make a "2d car platformer". The car is made of four wheel colliders and there are a lot of moving platforms, bridges, ramps etc.

Unfortunately the car is experiencing a lot of physics errors, such as going through things, shooting of in random directions and the like.

I don't really need most of the physics, just gravity and player movement. No ricochet or anything complicated.

What is the best solution?

Well, could you explain further how your physics works at the moment, so that we can work out what's going wrong?

the car has a rigidbody and configurable joint to keep it on one axis, terrain has a mesh collider and everything else should be default.

Probably, your problem is the configurable joint. Get rid of it. Did you know that rigidbodies have axis constraints built in to them? Look closely.
