Zip files won't extract - 3D Platform Game Tutorial

Hey, I'm still a bit new to Unity.

I use Blender to make my models and then import them into Unity. I just finished a huge Blender tutorial so I am now very familiar with Blender.

Now that I know how to make 3D Models, I need to learn how to script within Unity. There are lots of other features of Unity that I am unfamiliar with.

So I want to read the 3D Platform Game tutorial located at http://unity3d.com/support/resources/tutorials/3d-platform-game

I can download both files to my desktop successfully. However, the zip folder will not extract. Does anybody know what's wrong? I'll re-download the zip file. If you want, I'll tell you what the error message says.

Thanks

If redownloading it doesn't help, try this instead: http://unity3d.com/support/resources/files/3DPlatformTutorial.zip

It's the completed version of the tutorial, with all of the assets and scripts the start version has. You can start fresh from that with a new empty scene if you prefer then

Thanks, I'll try that if this doesn't work. But, I am supposed to click "Extract all..." for zip folders right?

Sounds ok. Then again, if you're using the built in windows unzipper, it's actually terrible at unzipping anything which was zipped on a mac (Usually complains about zero sized files or something silly). Try 7zip or any other free unarchiving program

7-Zip did the trick. Leave it to $$anonymous$$icrosoft to cause problems... or should we blame Apple?

Anyways, thanks very much. 7-Zip gets a place on my "Useful-Stuff-Only" desktop.

It's a windows unzipper bug - it can't handle the (mandatory) empty file and folder which is used for the file system on OSX. On the other hand, glad it's fixed (and 7zip is pretty awesome) :D
