Question by DaveA · Jul 27, 2010 at 01:47 AM · iphonefirst-person-controller

How to use FirstPersonController script for iPhone?

I must be missing somet$$anonymous$$ng very obvious, but I can't seem to get t$$anonymous$$s going.

I added the FirstPersonController script (and CharacterController of course) to my prefab.

When I run it, I get a load of errors from the Update function, w$$anonymous$$ch I traced to 'moveTouchPad' being unassigned.

What should it be assigned to, and where?

I needed to add a Joystick Script to my prefab, much as in the other prefabs provided for iPhone.

'moveTouchPad' being unassigned makes me t$$anonymous$$nk of the Input values in the inspector. Having not used the iPhone release, I can't say for sure. Still, just for debugging purposes, you might want to create an input in the Inspector (Edit/Project Settings/Input) called 'moveTouchPad', and see if that fixes the problem.

Hmm. I doubt it. How would I assign that to the script's field?

It's looking like a Prefab is needed, from the iPhone Standard Assets, but my attempts to use them are so far fruitless.

Oh, it seems I misunderstood you. You have a variable slot open in the inspector that needs to be filled?
