You talk like it's some really simple thing. Have you actually thought about the problem at all?

I'm currently creating this myself and what you need to do involves a bit of math and geometry splitting. The way I'm doing it is taking the meshes and splitting them based on their geometry. To get a good idea of how this works there is a program called Mesh Lab somewhere on the internet. I studied one of the filters called Vertex Edge Collapse Decimation or something like that... I forget exactly which one. Then I figured if I could split the vertices and separate the faces based the force of impact I could get the results I wanted. I'm about 50% there right now. There is no simple way to do this unless you want to buy something from the asset store.
