Acessing a global variable in shader

Hello,

Is there a way to create a global variable accessible from shaders, besides the already built-in state variables?

I've found the Shader.SetGlobalXYZ Shader.SetGlobalFloat("name", value) for example.

but I have some doubts: 1) How can I use the variable? should I have to declare the uniform with the same name? what do I have to do? 2) is there a way to set a default value to the global var? otherwise it'll break the material in editor, in case I set the global var just in runtime.

Ok, I solved the problem. The "name" variable has to be the same as the uniform variable name.

simple like that:

in Script: Shader.SetGlobalFloat("_CAMERA_FOV", this.camera.fov);

in Shader: uniform float _CAMERA_FOV = 60.0f; //setting a default value.

Setting default value in the shader doesn't work for me - it seem to set it to 0. Is there are trick to make it take the value set in shader?
