Question by Scanmaster_K · Jul 06, 2012 at 07:46 PM · prefabfilter

List prefabs containing certain component.

Is it possible to filter the project window to only list prefabs containing a certain script / component in them?

Thank you.

The Unify Community Wiki has some script samples that might be helpful:

Select assets depending on a particular asset: http://unifycommunity.com/wiki/index.php?title=UnityAssetXrefs

Select scene objects by component: http://unifycommunity.com/wiki/index.php?title=SelectByComponent

If you're really in a jam, I suppose you could write an editor script that iterates all assets (recursing folders as needed), checks if they're prefabs, and checks if they're prefabs with the particular component attached, selecting or otherwise reporting matches.

Looks like somewhere along the line, Unity added some feature to select scene objects with a particular asset attached. Not sure if there's any direct way to do that with your assets.

If you want to select all objects containing a component try to look at the "Find methods" and then just use transform.gameObject to get the gameobject its attached to. I am unsure if you can just list all prefabs, you may have to find all gameobject with the component and then weed out all gameObjects that arent prefabs (maybe have a collections arrayList of the prefabs to compare to?) and then do your work on that list. Since this list doesnt have a finite size i would suggest using collections framework (it normally is build into the programming language like c# but unsure if it is for javascript).
