Imported Blender model: Badly distorted

I made a fairly simple model in Blender (2.63), but when I import it into Unity3d and drag it into the scene it ends up looking horribly distorted. Why is this happening, and how can I fix it?

Also, it's not giving any errors when I import into Unity3d. All vertices are connected to bones.

  1. Has the model been skinned?

  2. Have you converted the mesh to polygons?

Also check the mesh compression settings in the inspector in Unity (see if it changes distortions)

for me this worked: In blender select all the mesh objects and go to "Object"->"Apply"->"Scale"

... and "Object"->"Apply"->"Rotation" + "Object"->"Apply"->"Location"

Unapplied scalings, rotations and locations get lost when importing the model into Unity.

I can't believe it was so simple. You are amazing-- I've been tearing my hair out over a motorcycle model that refused to cooperate for what felt like hours. THANK YOU!
