Question by ronin sixshooter · Oct 17, 2010 at 12:40 AM · blender

Can Unity 3 import from Blender 2.5 yet?

I know the previous version of Unity did not work with Blender 2.5. I havent had a chance to try Unity 3 with Blender 2.5. Does it work?

Should doesn't matter. It doesn't.

@Jessy, although I'm not a fan of duplicate questions either, on meta.stackoverflow, some people have made a case for them (can't find the link again, alas) as sometimes being useful. For instance - in this case, the question you linked had a title of "Importing from blender", which sounds generic. Whereas "Can Unity 3 import from Blender 2.5 yet?" is clearly about the problems resulting from the Blender 2.5 upgrade, and whether the latest Unity version, can handle it? It's a much more clear title about a specific issue.

NO, it seems that Unity3 will NOT import blender 2.5x files at this time. Though, if you uncheck cameras on an FBX export from blender 2.5x, you CAN then import the FBX into Unity, just not the native ".blend" files yet.

Yes Unity 3.0 should take blender files. If you are having problems dragging Blender files in to unity then try this Link :)

Old version of Blender, in that video.

yup, Unity3 only handles FBX exports from Blender 2.5 with the camera unchecked(or at least it was that way for recent builds). No native .blend file importation at this time. Use 2.49x for native Unity importing for now.
