How can I use 3dtext that stays behind an object AND receives a blob shadow from that object?

I am using 3dtext on the floor of my level. Using a 3dtext shader from wiki http://www.unifycommunity.com/wiki/index.php?title=3DText , the text stays under the player, but the blob shadow does not effect the text. Can I fix this? Thanks
