Better screen wrapping?

I'm making a 2d game in which the game "screen" wraps around. When you go off the top, you show up at the bottom, etc. Right now I have it implemented so that as soon as an object vanishes off of one side, it appears on the other. I want to improve it though. I'd like the transition to be seamless - so you can see half the object on one side and half on the other as it's transitioning. Is there a simple way to do this? I was thinking I'd have to instantiate new game objects but how do I control both (or all 4, if on a corner) objects at once?
