Question by dukegrrr81 · Sep 22, 2012 at 02:32 AM · installation

Form of Unity that doesn't require installation?

I was issued a school laptop (MAC) running Snow Leopard. The Admins don't care if we have games as long as they are freeware and don't require installation. I want to play Dead Frontier on it but all versions of Unity i find require installation( All installations are blocked by the admins). Is there a version of Unity that doesn't require installation, like it in .dmg form or something like that?

Not really the place to ask, you should contact whoever made Dead Frontier and see if they can export it as Flash. Oh, $$anonymous$$ac, sorry.

Huh? $$anonymous$$acs don't have any problems running Flash. Not that it's really a solution, since the game is probably too intensive to export as Flash, assu$$anonymous$$g it works in Flash at all.

"Usually" Unity games (especially standalong builds) doesn't require an installation. Just copy it. If it's just available as installation, install it on your home pc and copy it from there.

If it's a webplayer game, there's no way around an install of the webplayer plugin.

I see, well Dead Frontier is a browser based game that needs Unity to run. I've played it on my desktop but I recently moved and my modem is fully wireless now which prevents me from playing it on the good ol' desktop. I did try installing it on the desktop and converting but I dont have the software to convert Windows files to $$anonymous$$ac. Like you said earlier, I just need a drag and copy version of Unity, I just can't find one.

Web plugins require installation, no way around it (unless they are included with the web browser).
