Question by Michael 8 · Nov 02, 2010 at 01:06 PM · camera2dshooter

How can I get Geometry Wars style controls?

I placed a camera looking down directly on the flat game area and created a first person controller. I deleted the attached camera and attached to the controller a plane facing the camera.

Now I can move around and the plane will try facing the direction of the mouse, which is what I want. But the problem is that the 4-directions change according to the location of the mouse - pressing up will always cause the player go in the direction of the camera (think Resident Evil tank controls).

I tried attaching the mouse look script on to the graphics rather the entire controller, but it didn't work.

Also, if the mouse cursor goes behind the player he gets confused and doesn't follow it properly.

I read that the EvacCity tutorial covers it, but couldn't find it with google...?

I don't know what behaviour you are looking for, but the first person controller always moves along its forward axis. To change that you'll probably have to change the controller script. $$anonymous$$aybe you can give us a more precise description of what you are trying to do.
