How do I zoom in on the Hierarchy/Project/Inspector panels?

These show up rather small on my high-resolution monitor. Is there any way to zoom in, i.e. increase the size of the type and thumbnail icons?

I am posting in this thread though this is a old thread as I found it out how to get the zoom effect and hope it will help others.

first switch on you project panel from one column to two column layout and on the second column you will get a slider at lower right to zoom your icon
