Question by Conquistador · Dec 20, 2012 at 04:02 PM · gameshooter

What is the best developer kit for this project?

I want to do a shooter, for hobby, not for money, but I will dedicate a lot of time in it

The idea is a shooter of II world war, so with 1940's weapons and if is possible some tanks, driverable or not

A important detail is levels with more people, a clan, you with other 4 no player games that follow you, and not every players in the some floor, one in your left, other in your right...

In some moment I need can do cinematic scenes, when the characters moves his mouth

And reasons of the characters when you point then with the weapon, when you step a tile...

Is a hobby, so a ultraperfect graphics is not important if I can decorate with more details the map without one year for only one object

What is the best developer kit for this project? Unreal? FPS Creator? Unity...?

Any are capable of it but no developer kit just comes with that stuff built in completely.

Following is pathfinding, thats fine and unity PRO comes with pathfinding. But you have to know how to code.

Cinematic scenes, you mean like cut scenes, those aren't made in ANY dev kit. You make those in like adobe or something and save them and simply play the video at the right time.

Vehicles are completely possible, but you'd have to code them to get them to work realistically.

Lastly though this is really a unity troubleshooting page. Since some of these were questions generally about the capabilities of unity I answered.

But you need to learn programming if you can't and then probably get a friend or 2 to help.

Cinematics and modeling and texturing for example is a large amount of time to learn to do right. Most games have programmers that program and modellers that model. To be able to do both well takes ALOT of time and to a certain extent a unique mind. Programming is very much a math and science thing, Modelling and texturing is very much an art thing. Most people aren't strong in both.
