Standard package with Unity 3.1 - free version

Hi. New to Unity and want to make sure I'm only using the Standard / Free Package since I don't want to start building a game and then realize 30 days into it that certain features were from the ProPackage.

When I start a new project, I'm given the option to import a bunch of Packages: Character Controller.unityPackage LightFlares.unityPackage Particles.unityPackage Physic Materials.unityPackage Projectors.unityPackage Scripts.unityPackage Skyboxes.unityPackage StandardAssets(Mobile).unityPackage TerrainAssets.unityPackage ToonShading.unityPackage TreeCreator.unityPackage Water(Basic).unityPackage

Are these all part of the Standard (non-pro) Unity Package that I'll have permanent access to for free?

Only the standard packages labeled Pro Only contain (as you might expect) Unity Pro functionality.

From another thread it looks like those are all part of the basic, free package, but would appreciate if someone could confirm that.

Hello, I have the same problem and don't want to lose the "compatibility" with the Standard / Free Package, but I can't find ANY packages marked "Pro Only". Can I use all then...?

The question I've just asked was based on the items displayed by the "Project Wizard".

Now I found this list of files in the "Standard Packages" folder (Mac installation):

  • Character Controller.unityPackage

  • Glass Refraction (Pro Only).unityPackage

  • Image Effects (Pro Only).unityPackage

  • Light Cookies.unityPackage

  • Light Flares.unityPackage

  • Particles.unityPackage

  • Physic Materials.unityPackage

  • Projectors.unityPackage

  • Scripts.unityPackage

  • Skyboxes.unityPackage

  • Standard Assets (Mobile).unityPackage

  • Terrain Assets.unityPackage

  • Toon Shading.unityPackage

  • Tree Creator.unityPackage

  • Water (Basic).unityPackage

  • Water (Pro Only).unityPackage

Does this mean I can use all except:

  • Glass Refraction (Pro Only).unityPackage

  • Image Effects (Pro Only).unityPackage

  • Water (Pro Only).unityPackage

?

How about the "Standard Assets (Mobile).unityPackage"? Can it only be used for making mobile apps or always?

Many thanks.

Hi, can someone please answer...? I would like to start using Unity, but don't want to use any "Pro only" material. Thanks again.
